Jambughoada Sightseeing

1) Champaner  Heritage

A UNESCO Heritage site, Champaner and Pavagadh are often clubbed together as one of the most engaging historical attractions of Gujarat. Pavagadh stands on top of the hill that looks over the sprawl of monuments at the base in Champaner. The duo makes a rich heritage site dotted with forts, mosques, monuments, tombs, arches, temples, step-wells and fortresses from 8th to 14th century.

At the heart of Champaner, is the Citadel, whose most impressive features are its 16th-century monumental mosques (no longer used for worship), with their beautiful blending of Islamic and Hindu architecture.

2) Tribal Groups Photo-album

Jambughoda is tribal land and the adivasi (indigenous tribe) population is very high in this region. 40 % are the Rathwas. The Nayakas, Tadvis, Barias, Bhils, Bhilalas and other such tribes and communities form the rest of the population.

3) JambuGhoda Heritage Palace

This was our hotel for two nights.  . The principal part of the palace compound comprises the home of His Highness Maharaja Vikramsinhji and his family. Interestingly, HH Vikramsinhji is a renowned environmentalist who managed to acquire ‘Wildlife Sanctuary’ status for the adjoining Jambughoda forest.
